Understanding the history and main forms of Muslim art and architecture; understanding their relevance to universal cultural and art history; understanding the central role played by forms of artistic expression in the codification and expression of Muslim spirituality and values; understanding the styles, forms, artistic and architectural symbols of the different regions of the Muslim world and their intersections with local artistic traditions; learning key references of Muslim art and architecture in various geographical and cultural spaces
