The main objective of this course is to acquire fundamental knowledge and an overview of the evolution of Christianity in the cultural context of the Mediterranean world since the 16th century. I to the 1st century. VI.

Course objectives: Acquiring fundamental knowledge and an understanding of the evolution of Christianity in the cultural context of the Mediterranean world starting from the 1st century to the 6th century; understanding the dissemination of Christianity in the Mediterranean basin, both horizontally (territorially) and vertically (from the bottom of society to the top) and the processes that surrounded this phenomenon; understanding the phenomenon of the Christian acculturation in the Greek Roman culture; understanding the fundamentals of ancient Christianity (tradition, dogmas, sacred texts) and the processes that brought them to maturity.

10. The Christian Empire – from Constantine to Theodosius I
11. Christianity and classical culture
12. Christian communities outside the Roman Empire
13. The Christian Empire and pagan resistance – from Theodosius I to Justinian
14. The emergence of the artistic language of Christianity
